He also played Ram in BR Chopra's 'Ramayana,' in which Smriti Irani played the role of Sita. After taking a break from the television, Nitish tried his hand in movies and then politics. Nitish contested the parliamentary elections from Jamshedpur and Rajgarh in Madhya Pradesh as a BJP candidate.

She also participated in the India Against Corruption movement. Gul entered mainstream politics as a member of the Aam Aadmi Party’s national executive. She was the Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Chandigarh for Indian general election, 2014. She came on third position with 1,08,679 votes.
